Hi,

I’d like to dedicate this entry to discuss (http://phplinkdirectory.com/) ’s phpLinkDirectory and a little .

For the last x number of years link building and link popularity have basically been the core of search engine optimization. SEO was and possibly still is based on link development. This urge in particular is what caused lots of people to go after this hit “concept” for a begining :D .

As I said in the late days people we’re very concerned about link developing. This is what caused the idea of a directory to arrise. A directory is basically a script which divides itself to serveral categories and sub-categories and in our case prints links accordingly to where they were submitted by the user and where they approved by the administartor in terms of categories and subs.

Now I’ll explain how the whole thing works and how it both satisfies the users and the makers of the sites. Usually, the directories value is in it’s PageRank. As pagerank is what everyone actually wants from a directory, excluding live hits ofcourse and greater possibility of quick indexing. As for users, they usually have several choices to exploit the system– meant in an ethical manner :D .

A user could use a directory to search for sites or submit sites. The first option is usually obvious and easy but the submition process is what we’re interested in. A user would, if interested in submitting an x number of links have several options. I’ll only be talking about the common ones I’ve seen..

  • Featured or Sponsered listings: usually gets the priority of listings and is treated like an A-Class site. But you dun get that treatment easily, you usually pay for it :D . The price, like always depends on the directory’s PR, live hits and traffic.
  • Free non-reciprocal listings: These listings will get a non-special treatment but would probably get listed too.
  • Free reciprocal listings: As for these, they are mostly prefered for the makers of the directory, excluding the money feaults :D . Reciprocal means a 2 way linking system, in English, I link to you and you link back to me :) .

phpLD

Now that I’ve talked a bit about directories I’ll talk about phpLinkDirectory.

It’s granted that the maker up of that idea was quite intelligent. Given that ’cause he/she was able to identify the one thing that was missing on the internet and feeded that thing to the limits that it is overwhelming sometimes.

As I’ve explained above, making a directory was like a gold time, wether you were aiming for money or backlinks out of it. So here comes phpLD’s purpose.

phpLD is an open source or a paid for script that manages making a very proffessional and hi-tech blog for you. It’s highly functionale with great procedures which I’m probably gonna Ctrl + c & paste the free version’s features and the paid version’s features into a list over here.. There you go..

Free version (2.something) :D :

  • Unlimited Categories and Subcategories (tested on 2 million).
  • Mod Rewrite for SEO Friendly Pages (optional)
  • Paypal Integration for Selling Featured Links
  • Google Pagerank (note: banned on some servers)
  • Import Links from XML Source (per category)

These are only like about 1/9 of the real features scroll down to find the link to the features..

As for the paid version:

  • IP and Domain Banning
  • Google Sitemaps Integration (auto ping google server)
  • Yahoo Sitemaps Integration
  • Database Backup from within admin panel
  • Limited Access for Editors
  • Continously being improved and updated

Features of both editions can be found at http://www.phplinkdirectory.com/articlescript/features.php

It is kinda obvious that you get more if you pay but just the free version is so damn swell :D .

Happy directoring :D << New verb? Probably gonna be “happy phplinkdirectoring” as it’s used so damn alot :D .
